The Newbury Weekly News has been serving West Berkshire and North Hampshire for 140 years. So integral did the paper become to the community that Thursday quickly became known as “pig and paper day” to reflect both the local livestock market and the publication of the paper.
The Company remains as fiercely independent today as it did with the first issue in 1867 although naturally it has gone through many changes. The Group now publishes a range of titles – both paid-for and free home delivery – although the now compact Newbury Weekly News remains its flagship title and was voted Newspaper of the Year in 2005.
The development of the groups award-winning sister website newburytoday.co.uk has further complemented the printed publications and the decision by the company to invest heavily in new printing facilities in 2005 has opened new opportunities for both new and existing contract print customers.
Work began in May 2009 to instal 2 further towers on the Goss press, this time double width, to further enhance and expand our printing capabilities.
